Italy and New Zealand, with a superb Mark Paston in goal, made a draw 1-1 in a match counting for the second day of Group F in Nelspruit. New Zealand opened the scoring through Shane Smeltz, with one foot close (7th) after a missed test of Fabio Cannavaro, the Italians equalized through a penalty from Vincenzo Iaquinta (28th) whistled for a foul on Tommy Smith Daniele De Rossi.
