Raymond Domenech announced May 17 the composition of his team for the World Cup. One player likely to be a defender, leaving the team almost tentative.

A panel of 24 players, reduced from a list of 30 unveiled in early May, will attend a training camp for three days in the ski resort of Tignes.

Domenech will announce his final team on May 27, before leaving for a second internship in Tunisia.

Among the most notable absentees from the team, he yal'attaquant Marseille Hatem Ben Arfa and Mickael Landreau, the best scorer of Lille.

The defenders Adil Rami and Rod Fanni, midfielder and striker Yann Mvila Jimmy Briand has also been among the six players eliminated in the formation of 30 players.

Among those who have been selected, there is the Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena, defender Marc Planus and goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso Bordeaux.

Valbuena, small player best known for his professionalism, was summoned for the first time in March, 2008, before being sidelined by injury.

This time, success is all the more remarkable because it began the season in the League on the bench in Marseille.

The absence of Rummy and the inclusion of only four central defenders suggested that Domenech could ask Jeremy Toulalan (defensive back) to occupy a defensive position even more if necessary.

If we speak of long-term strategy of Domenech, then Planus, Bordeaux defender could become the 24th man and will miss the trip to South Africa.

At the same time, Landreau misses for the second consecutive tournament final, having found among the seven players on the team who have been "dismissed" before the start of Euro 2008.

Now officially replaces Carrasso Landreau as the third option Blues goalie after Hugo Lloris Lyon and Steve Mandanda Marseille.

France lost the Cup in 2006 in favor of Italy and is now in group A, alongside South Africa, Mexico and Uruguay.
